First Thanksgiving

Claire attended her first Thanksgiving celebration at her Great-Aunt Gay's house in Decatur. There, she met her Great-Aunts (Gay and Jane), her Great-Uncles (John and Lee), her first cousins once removed (George, Tracy, and Em), their spouses (Brooke, Scott, and Jill, respectively), her first cousin once removed (Emily), and her second cousins. These are little Barran, Henry, Taylor, Shine, and Rivers. Claire's Great-Grandmother Barran was there, and she is recovering well from her stroke, which occurred a couple of months ago. All of the Barran's agreed that Claire looks like a little Joseph. Claire got to spend time with her Uncle Charles, who stayed with us at Mr. Joseph's house. Claire was fussy during dinner, so she sat on my lap while I ate, and afterwards was laid down in a crib upstairs, where she vehemently refused to sleep. She didn't want to miss out on the fun downstairs!

The next day, she saw her Great-Aunt Madeline, who is on the Joseph side of the family, as well as Madeline's daughter, Christy, and grandson, Caleb. We all ate a turkey and ham lunch, complete with Lebanese stuffed cabbage rolls and tabouli. Claire ate banana, which is her favorite food, having surpassed even sweet potatoes and carrots.
